Videodrome is a 1983 Canadian science fiction body horror film written and directed by David Cronenberg, and starring James Woods, Sonja Smits, and Deborah Harry. Set in Toronto during the early 1980s, it follows the CEO of a small UHF television station who stumbles upon a broadcast signal featuring extreme violence and torture. Like some of David Cronenberg’s other films—including The Fly, and Dead Ringers — Videodrome actually takes place in Toronto. The director is pretty subtle about it, but don’t worry: there are So, filled to the brim with anticipation, I went down to the local movie rental place and set about attending to the task at hand. Needless to say, despite being done out of necessity, I enjoyed the experience immensely. It rekindled my love of Cronenberg’s work and of VIDEODROME, in particular.
